Abstract: A life course perspective is refining public health practice and research in maternal-child health and in chronic disease prevention. The entire February 2014 issue of the Maternal and Child Health Journal is devoted to this topic. What is this perspective? How is it tied to the fetal origins of chronic disease and the failure of prenatal care to reduce preterm birth? If these ideas and questions intrigue you, come join this lecture/conversation on the life course perspective in women's health.
