Mary Kathryn (Katie) Sanders earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. Research projects include educational innovations involving the perceived caring abilities of undergraduate students who complete immersion experiences in the Colonias along the Texas-Mexico border. Dr. Sanders obtained a Master’s of Nursing Science with a specialization in Education from Walden University. Dr. Sanders was nominated for a Daisy Faculty Award through the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. Educational innovations include the use of virtual reality in pediatric simulation and interprofessional education in pediatric simulation. Dr. Sanders’ nursing background includes pediatrics, surgical nursing and school nursing.
