Shane joined the School of Nursing in the fall of 2008, shortly after moving back to Austin from San Francisco. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from UT Austin. Alice Vallejo has lived in Del Valle her entire life. Her three children were patients at CWC when it first opened. At that time, Alice was interested in becoming more involved in the community and became a volunteer at the CWC. Every day she came to the clinic and helped by reading books to children, answering phones, and working on community outreach projects. She received formal training and also began helping with CHIP and Medicaid applications. Soon Alice became a valuable team member of the CWC and was officially hired as a Front Office Assistant about thirteen years ago. Now she is our senior administrative assistant. Three generations of her family are involved with our clinic through volunteer efforts. Other than her normal duties, Alice continues to faithfully serve her community by volunteering with outreach, assisting with Medicaid/CHIP applications, and helping patients get the resources that they so desparately need.
