Fall 2013 Convocation for Graduating Students

School of Nursing Ceremony Information

The convocation ceremony will be held in the Performing Arts Center’s Bass Concert Hall, 23rd and Robert Dedman Drive. More details will follow later in the semester about the ceremony and line-up.


Dean Stuifbergen, student representatives, our convocation speaker, Norine Yukon and Dr. Linda Carpenter will address the graduates. A convocation program will be given to each degree candidate at the ceremony.


All UT parking garages will be free and open to the public on Saturday, 12/7. The San Jacinto Garage (2401 San Jacinto) and Manor Garage (2017 Robert Dedman Dr) are near Bass Concert Hall. Parking is also unrestricted in all “C” lots on these days.  Disabled parking is available along the east side of Robert Dedman Drive. Please allow adequate time for parking. Academic Regalia

Academic Regalia Required: Caps and gowns can be obtained from the University Co-op. The Graduation Department will open October 2, 2013. Complete information on purchase or rental of caps and gowns will be available on University Co-op website by October 2nd. On the left side of this webpage, click on Graduation.

PhD Regalia: Doctoral Regalia prices currently pending October 11, 2013 is the date your purchase should be made. The deadline for rentals is November 1, 2013.

Masters Regalia: Purchase price is currently pending for the cap, gown, tassel and hood. The date this should be arranged no later than November 22, 2013.

BSN Regalia: Purchase price is currently pending for the cap, gown, stole and tassel. The date this should be arranged no later than November 29, 2013.

Invitations: Graduation announcements and invitations may be purchased at the Co-op as well as other locations. It takes about 3-5 business days after ordering to receive the invitations.

Guest Tickets: Tickets will not be needed for your guests and there is no limit on the number of guests you may invite to the ceremony.

Photography: A photographer will be at the ceremony to take pictures of each candidate as they are congratulated by Dean Stuifbergen. A card will be given to you to fill out for the announcement of your name. The photography company will also use the card to mail your photo and you will be given the opportunity at that time to make a purchase if you choose.

Special Assistance for Graduates & Guests

Guests will enter Bass Concert Hall through the front lobby. The doors to the Concert Hall will open at approximately 8:15 am. Guests with mobility impairments should enter through the southeast front entrance of the Concert Hall (there is a ramp at this entrance) and should arrive by 8:00 am. A house manager will admit and seat these guests before the lobby opens.
