Writing Centers

UT Undergraduate Writing Center

The Undergraduate Writing Center provides individual, professional advice on all aspects of writing to UT undergraduates on a drop-in basis or by appointment.

Professional advice on writing is provided in one-on-one sessions called consultations. Undergraduates can be helped with their writing at any stage, including: finding a topic for a paper, organizing ideas and clarifying thoughts, and drafting and revising papers. Although they do not edit or proofread students' papers, they do teach students effective and efficient strategies for editing and proofreading their own work. Help is provided with class assignments and also with resumes, employment and graduate school applications and creative and public writing.

They are located in Flawn Academic Center (Undergrad Library), 2nd floor. You can call 471-6222 for more information or for an appointment.

UT Graduate Student Writing Service: Sanger Learning & Career Center

The Graduate Student Writing Service is the only all-inclusive graduate writing assistance available on campus. You may bring in a paper, thesis, dissertation, grant proposal – any writing project in any discipline – and get immediate feedback for improving your work.

Their mission is to help graduate students become independent, confident writers. In accordance with their mission and with University policies, they do not proofread or edit papers. Instead, they provide expert advice to help you make the most of your writing.

They are located in Jester A115 and their hours are M-F 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. You may drop in for a consultation, or schedule an appointment. To schedule an appointment, call 471-1217.
