Candidates for Associate or Full Professor should have a record of research funding and teaching excellence at a level appropriate to rank. Successful candidates are expected to teach, develop and/or maintain a research program, and provide service to the university, the community and the profession. New faculty members are connected with faculty mentors who will provide guidance on issues pertaining to classroom instruction, program curricula, and course development. The Faculty Innovation Center conducts workshops and provides consultation to faculty on course management, test development, and instructional techniques. New faculty are also provided start-up packages to launch their research and have access to the Cain Center for Nursing Research, which provides consultative services for faculty, the St. David’s Center for Health Promotion & Disease Prevention Research in Underserved Populations, which provides pilot study funding and avenues for interdisciplinary collaboration, and our new Biobehavioral Lab, which provides state-of-the-art laboratory services for those investigating the links between behavior and physiological factors.
