On Friday, September 29th, 2023, the School of Nursing will celebrate the Fall 2023​ Light the Lamp Pinning Ceremony. The ceremony will honor our nursing students entering clinical settings in a pinning ceremony promoting humanistic, patient-centered care.

The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing students and officers of the UT Austin Nursing Students’ Association Huy Le, Alexis Maceda, Chardelene Reyes, and Kaliah Sherrod, along with Jennifer Flippo, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, PMHS, clinical assistant professor, attended the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) Annual Convention in April 2023 in Nashville.

On Friday, May 5th, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. (CST), the School of Nursing will host a ceremony at the Bass Concert Hall in honor of the graduating Class of 2023. The School of Nursing community is excited to honor your achievements and celebrate this moment with your friends and family.

Meet Mary Loeb, a 2022 BSN honors graduate. Ms. Loeb comes from a long line of Longhorns, beginning with her great grandmother who graduated from the UT College of Pharmacy in 1929, making her a fourth generation Longhorn!

Meet Jasmine Tumewu, a 2021 BSN graduate working as the Clinic RN for the ‘Healthcare for the Homeless Mobile Team’ for CommUnity Care, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Austin. Along with this organization, Ms. Tumewu offers a specialized scope of services including care for those without health insurance.

The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing’s efforts to educate top nurses and improve care for older adults will continue to grow, thanks to a gift from long-time UT supporters Luci Baines Johnson and Ian Turpin, to create the Luci Baines Johnson and Ian J. Turpin Center for Gerontological Nursing.

After over a decade of dedicated service as the dean of The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing, Alexa Stuifbergen will conclude her tenure as dean upon completion of the 2022-23 academic year and will continue as faculty.
