Mission

The mission of the School of Nursing is to achieve excellence in nursing education, research and scholarship, and public service.


Goals

The mission of the School of Nursing will be met by working toward these goals:

  1. Maintain excellence in curricula at all levels in order to challenge students to attain their full potential.
  2. Expand recruitment and retention efforts to develop a pool of well-qualified student applicants.
  3. Generate research and scholarship that advances knowledge for nursing and health care.
  4. Actively recruit and retain faculty with a developing or established scholarship record, and/or clinical and teaching expertise.
  5. Foster faculty, staff, and student growth and development.
  6. Secure endowments and other funds to support the mission of the School of Nursing.
  7. Perform continuous quality improvement to maintain curricular excellence in a constantly changing health care environment.
  8. Advance the health of the public by developing and disseminating new knowledge about health, health care, and health care delivery.
  9. Provide consultation, health care programs, and health care services in response to urgent and emerging health needs of the public.
  10. Maintain strong liaisons and creative service and learning partnerships with health providers, agencies, and other colleges/schools and disciplines.
  11. Maintain strong relationships with alumni, community groups, donors and other stakeholders.
  12. Upgrade research and learning facilities and resources in response to evolving needs.
