The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing’s Dean Eun-Ok Im, PhD, MPH, RN, CNS, FAAN, Professor and Laura Lee Blanton Chair in Nursing; and John Lowe, PhD, RN, FAAN, Joseph H. Blades Centennial Memorial Professor in Nursing, were recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Nursing (AAN).

The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing alumnae Megan Pfitzinger Lippe, PhD, MSN, RN, associate professor at UT Health San Antonio, and Robin Page, PhD, APRN, CNM, FACNM, associate professor at Texas A&M University School of Nursing, have been selected as Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing (AAN).

Malin Berghammer, PhD, MSN, RN, a visiting scholar from Sweden, is teaching at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing during Fall 2023. This semester, Berghammer is assisting in the following courses: Introduction to Patient-Centered Care, Interprofessional Collaborative Practice, Foundations of Nurse Educators and Pediatric Primary Health Care Concepts.

For over 70 years, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been the nation’s leading science-based, data-driven service organization that protects the public’s health. In August of 2022, at the request of Dr. Rochelle Walensky, former director of the CDC, Visiting Professor Mary Wakefield, PhD, RN, FAAN, stepped in as her senior counselor to revamp the CDC.

During her 14 years as dean of the School of Nursing, Alexa Stuifbergen, PhD, RN, FAAN, strengthened the School’s reputation and impact as one of the nation’s leading nursing schools.

On Friday, September 29th, 2023, the School of Nursing will celebrate the Fall 2023​ Light the Lamp Pinning Ceremony. The ceremony will honor our nursing students entering clinical settings in a pinning ceremony promoting humanistic, patient-centered care.

UT Austin School of Nursing 2023 honors program graduates Brianna Garza and Tobechukwu (Tobi) Phillips presented their research at international conferences over the summer.

The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing students and officers of the UT Austin Nursing Students’ Association Huy Le, Alexis Maceda, Chardelene Reyes, and Kaliah Sherrod, along with Jennifer Flippo, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, PMHS, clinical assistant professor, attended the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) Annual Convention in April 2023 in Nashville.
