Three UT Austin School of Nursing Faculty Promoted

Congratulations to the following UT Austin School of Nursing faculty members on their promotions effective August 16, 2024.

Left to Right:  Dr. Janice Hernandez, Dr. Nicole Murry, and Dr. Ashley Henneghan

Janice Hernandez, DNP, RN, FNP-C will be promoted to Clinical Associate Professor.

Dr. Hernandez serves as Division Chair of the Holistic Adult Health Division, where she focuses on recruitment, development, coaching, retention and promoting a culture which enables the growth and success for nursing faculty. She also serves as the Director of Leadership in Diverse Settings (LeaDS), one of the concentration areas of MSN program, and is the facilitator for LeaDS Advanced Nursing Capstone, where she works with graduate students and collaborates with community networks to implement innovative quality improvement and evidence-based projects. 


Nicole Murry, PhD, RN will be promoted to Clinical Associate Professor.

Dr. Murry’s primary research interests include maternal and infant health. She is currently a co-investigator of a study aimed at identifying the stressors and coping mechanisms of mothers of infants. As the newly appointed Director of the Center for Professional Development and Scholarship, Dr. Murry aims to establish ongoing support at the School of Nursing for faculty in reaching their professional goals.


Ashley Henneghan, PhD, RN, FAAN will be promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure.

Dr. Henneghan’s work focuses on identifying and improving cognitive and psychological function in those who have been diagnosed with and treated for cancer. Her research emphasizes the importance of quantifying cognitive outcomes in the context of everyday life, where it matters most, and developing integrative and accessible health interventions to improve cancer-related cognitive outcomes.
