This instructor-led course empowers individuals in the community to confidently respond to emergency situations. Through hands-on practice and dynamic instruction, participants learn to provide First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely, promptly, and effectively. Using the AHA’s practice-while-watching technique, instructors guide students through skill-building exercises, offering feedback and ensuring mastery of life-saving techniques. First Aid Basics, Medical Emergencies, Injury Emergencies, Environmental Emergencies, Illness and Injury Prevention, Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and AED usage, Opioid-Associated Life-Threatening Emergencies, and relief of choking for all ages.
This course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for employment (including OSHA requirements), regulatory compliance, or simply wants to be prepared to help in any setting. Certification is valid for two years.
Recommended CPR Classroom Guidelines:
- Must be 18yrs + to attend class – parent or guardian attendance is required if under 18.
- Face masks are recommended but not required during class.
- Wash hands and cover sneezes/coughs – use hand sanitizer regularly.
- If you are sick – do not come to class.

STEP 2 – PAYMENT: After enrolling, submit payment based on your participant type:
Non-UT Participants – $75 (Submit Payment)
UT Students, Faculty, & Staff – $60 (Submit Payment)
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Upon entering the UT School of Nursing building, please present your UT ID to the attending security guard for verification. If you don’t have a UT ID, please explain why you are here and sign in at the desk before proceeding to your destination.
You are not guaranteed a spot in class until payment for registration has been submitted (step 2). If payment is not submitted upon registration, you will be dropped from the class. (Invoiced participants are exempt.) A cancellation fee of $10 will be charged to those who fail to attend a class unless prior notification has been given.
*UT School of Nursing reserves the right to cancel a class with less than 5 participants registered. An email will be sent to those on the roster 24 hours before the class is cancelled.
