High school students from across Texas and beyond spent part of their summer getting a first-hand look at life as a nursing student through the Longhorn Nursing Immersion Summer Camp. Held in two week-long sessions in June 2025, the camp welcomed a total of 117 students ages 15–17 to the Forty Acres for an immersive introduction to nursing education and practice.

At The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing, global engagement is more than a mission—it’s a practice, a vision and a catalyst for advancing health worldwide. The Visiting Scholars Program, housed within the Center for Global Nursing and Health (CGNH), is a vital part of that effort.

Jung Kwak, PhD, MSW, FGSA, associate professor at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing, has been awarded a Faculty Travel Planning Grant from Texas Global to support a cross-national collaboration aimed at advancing person-centered dementia care in aging societies.

The inaugural NURSING-AI Challenge at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing brought together nursing faculty and students from across disciplines to imagine what’s possible when artificial intelligence is applied to real-world challenges in nursing. Held in May 2025, the event invited eight teams to unveil tools designed to improve patient care, education and decision-making, using some of today’s most advanced AI technology.
