Alternate Entry Master of Science in Nursing

AE Programs

AE-MSN, AE-PhD, and AE-DNP programs are designed for people holding baccalaureate or graduate degrees in disciplines other than nursing and who are interested in pursuing their RN License, and MSN, PhD, or DNP.

Master of Science in Nursing

MSN Program

MSN program is designed to provide the opportunity for advanced study in select areas of nursing science, professional foundations, related sciences, and modes of systematic inquiry related to advanced and specialized professional nursing practice.

Doctor of Philosophy

PhD Program

Doctoral program prepares students to become researchers and to assume advanced leadership roles in nursing and health care delivery. Each student selects a focus area based on their nursing background, interests, and goals.

Doctor of Nursing Practice

DNP Program

The DNP was developed to meet the demand for MSN prepared practitioners able to practice and to provide leadership at the highest levels of healthcare and meet the demand for highly prepared clinical faculty for schools of nursing.

Certificate Programs

Teaching Nursing

The Certificate in Teaching Nursing is designed for nurses who are seeking to enhance their teaching pedagogy/skills and also for those who are seeking an academic career in teaching nursing.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) certificate programs are designed for those nurses who have a master’s in nursing and wish to complete the course work necessary to sit for national certification as an APRN.

Graduate Portfolio Programs are opportunities for all graduate students to obtain credentials in a cross-disciplinary academic area while they are completing the requirements for a master's or doctor's degree in a particular discipline.

Engaging Global Health in Costa Rica Program

The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing faculty lead this five-week program in Heredia, Costa Rica during the Summer II semester (mid-July to mid-August).
