In honor of Black History Month, we highlight an article about nurses who had great impacts over the last two centuries and an article written by former faculty member Jan Fox about the founding of the African-American Nursing Student Association (AANSA) as a support group at UT Austin School of Nursing.

Mary Seacole, who acquired knowledge of herbal medicine in Jamaica where she was born, traveled independently to the Crimea in the 1850s to care for sick and wounded servicemen on the battlefield of the Crimean War.
