A renowned oncology nurse-scientist, Dr. Song conducts clinical research on survivorship issues affecting cancer patients and their family caregivers. Her work focuses on dyadic research methodologies, quality of life, symptom management, technology-augmented interventions, and addressing health disparities. She has served as Principal Investigator on numerous observational studies and clinical trials funded by prestigious institutions, including the NIH (National Institute of Nursing Research [NINR], National Cancer Institute [NCI], National Library of Medicine [NLM]), the Department of Defense (DOD), and university systems at UNC and UT.
In addition to review for high impact multidisciplinary journals such as Cancer, JMIR, and Psycho-oncology, Dr. Song has an extensive record of service on grant review panels and study sessions for NIH, DOD, NSF, and other foundations in the U.S. and internationally. Her global contributions include serving as a reviewer for KWF Funding through the Dutch Cancer Society (Netherlands), the European Science Foundation (France), and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA). She is also a standing member of the Lifestyle Change and Behavioral Health (LCBH) panel at NIH.
This presentation highlights her NIH-funded project, titled A randomized trial evaluating a tailored eHealth intervention for symptom management in couples coping with prostate cancer.
