Biography

Dr. Guillet is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at The University of Texas at Austin, School of Nursing. Her professional interest is focused on Medical Spanish Education, Community and Public health, Global health and Study abroad programs. Her clinical focus is on diabetes management for communities challenged with access to healthcare. 

Dr. Guillet focuses on strengthening community partnerships and collaboration with underserved communities to promote health, disease prevention and health education. Dr. Guillet has also collaborated in the intervention phase of different research studies that focused on Health promotion in Central Texas.

Prior to her academic career, Dr. Guillet obtained her medical degree from the Uiversidad Autonoma de Nicaragua-UNAN-Managua; in Nicaragua she worked as a family medicine physician for the Ministry of Health and later in the nonprofit sector as the medical director for community health programs focused on improving the role of community health workers. 

Dr. Guillet attended UT Austin and obtained a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Master’s in Nursing- Public Health degrees. She also obtained a certificate in Non-Profit Management from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at UT.

She currently teaches Spanish for Healthcare Professionals, Public health nursing, and Global Health Study abroad in Costa Rica for the School of Nursing at UT; Dr. Guillet taught  Medical Spanish courses for the the College of Pharmacy, Dell Medical school and Spanish for the Department of Spanish & Portuguese at The University of Texas at Austin.
