Alexsis Torres, senior program coordinator for clinical placements at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing, received the SON Star Award for Texas Nursing staff in August 2025.
This award is granted to a UT Austin School of Nursing staff member who demonstrates a commitment to the goals and values of the University and the School.
Torres was recognized for her diligent and professional approach in resolving hospital database access issues for students and faculty. She proactively identified and connected with appropriate organizational partners to provide assistance and consistently represented the School of Nursing with positivity and professionalism—both in person and online.
Nominated by both faculty and staff, Torres took on unexpected responsibility for clinical placements during a particularly challenging period last year. She went above and beyond to enhance nursing students’ professional experiences, ensuring they received the support and opportunities they needed to succeed.
In addition, Torres volunteers her time to support various Student Affairs activities, has streamlined team communication and serves as the staff representative to the UT Staff Council.
