Ana Loera, RN, primary care nursing supervisor at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing’s Children’s Wellness Center (CWC), received the SON Star Award for Texas Nursing staff in December 2025.
This award is granted to a UT Austin School of Nursing staff member who demonstrates a commitment to the goals and values of the University and the School.
Loera is admired for her exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to patient-centered care. Consistently seeking opportunities to support the Del Valle community where the clinic is located, she organizes vaccine drives, sports physical clinics and health education events while ensuring every patient leaves the clinic feeling genuinely cared for.
Described as approachable, supportive and always ready to teach, Loera is someone who fosters an environment where everyone feels respected, heard and empowered. Whether guiding new nursing students, helping staff or ensuring that clinic operations run smoothly, she models patience, compassion and professionalism in every interaction.
