Bo Xie, PhD, FGSA, Named to Lee and Joseph D. Jamail Endowed Professorship in Nursing

Dr. Bo Xie

The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing and School of Information are proud to announce the appointment of Bo Xie, PhD, FGSA, to the Lee and Joseph D. Jamail Endowed Professorship in Nursing.

Dr. Xie is a tenured professor at both schools and has served as the inaugural director of the Center for Healthcare Innovation and Technology Advancements at the School of Nursing since 2023.

Her research focuses on health informatics interventions that can promote older adults’ use of information and communication technologies for health information and decision-making that may have important implications for patient-provider relationships and health outcomes.

Dr. Xie received her PhD in Science and Technology Studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, her MS in Psychology from Peking University, and her B.Med.Sci. from the West China University of Medical Sciences in Chengdu, China.

She is a fellow of the Gerontological Society of America and previously held the Ed and Molly Smith Centennial Fellowship in Nursing at UT Austin (twice) and was a Dolores V. Sands Chair in Nursing Research Fellow. She is also a past recipient of the Dean’s Excellence in Research Award and numerous awards across her prolific body of research.

The Lee and Joseph D. Jamail Endowed Professorship in Nursing is named after two of the university’s most generous supporters and is used to recognize and support outstanding faculty members to further enhance scholarly efforts and research in the nursing profession.
