Alumna Laura Cervantes, who received her Master of Science in Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner degree in May 2018, was selected as the winner of the 2019 Excellence in Writing Award by the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Health (AWHONN).
Her article “Strategies to Avoid Neonatal Blood Transfusions for Families of the Jehovah’s Witness Faith” was published in the August 2018 issue of Nursing for Women’s Health Journal 22(4), 332-337, the clinical journal for AWHONN. Julie Zuñiga, PhD, RN and assistant professor at UT Austin School of Nursing, was co-author.
