
The Austin American-Statesman recently spotlighted a free community initiative by The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing’s Social Resource Center.
The article, Why are some Texas family centers sitting on surpluses when others need help?, featured one of the Center’s diaper distribution events, which provide essential support to local families, highlighting the UT Austin School of Nursing’s ongoing commitment to community service and outreach.
Held on July 11, 2024, the event was part of the Social Resource Center’s efforts to support families in the Del Valle region of Travis County. The Center distributed diapers and related supplies to families in need, addressing a critical resource gap for many in the community.
The Social Resource Center was established to bridge gaps in health and social services for underserved populations in the Del Valle community. Its mission is to empower individuals and families by providing essential resources and connecting them with community support systems. The Center’s goals include reducing health disparities, enhancing access to care and promoting overall well-being through direct service, advocacy and partnerships with local organizations.
