UT Austin Alumna to Present at the 2019 NINR Director's Lecture

Dr. Jean C. McSweeney

Jean C. McSweeney, RN, PhD (1990), FAHA, FAAN, will present “Matters of the Heart: A Research Journey Uncovering Signs of Heart Disease in Women" at the 2019 NINR Director's Lecture in Bethesda, Maryland on September 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. ET. Dr. McSweeney will discuss her program of research that focuses on the symptoms of heart disease in women. This lecture will be broadcast live and archived: http://videocast.nih.gov.

The NINR Director’s Lecture Series is designed to bring the nation’s top nurse scientists to the NIH campus to share their work and interests with a transdisciplinary audience. Dr. McSweeney is a professor and Associate Dean for Research at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. She is a research pioneer in the field of women’s cardiovascular disease, publishing the first study that described women’s symptoms. 

She received her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in 1990 and received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2010.
