The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing are among the best in the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report rankings released April 9, 2024.
The School’s MSN program ranked #14 overall (tied) among 2024 Best Graduate School in the U.S. and #8 (tied) among public universities and is the top-ranked MSN program in Texas.
Additionally, the DNP program ranked #26 overall (tied) among Best Nursing Schools: Doctor of Nursing Practice, #19 (tied) among public universities, and is the top-ranked DNP program in the state.

The UT Austin School of Nursing’s MSN is designed to provide the opportunity for advanced study in select areas of nursing science, professional foundations, related sciences, and modes of systematic inquiry related to advanced and specialized professional nursing practice.
The DNP program is designed to prepare advanced practice nurses for leadership roles in clinical practice and health care systems. The curriculum emphasizes evidence-based practice, quality improvement and the integration of research into clinical settings. Graduates are equipped to address complex health care challenges and improve patient outcomes through innovative solutions and strategic decision-making.
U.S. News and World Report rankings for MSN and DNP programs are based on four factors: research activity, faculty resources, student excellence and qualitative ratings from experts.
