Introducing UT Austin School of Nursing’s fourth Dean: Eun-Ok Im
In September 2023, UT Austin welcomed back Eun-Ok Im, PhD, MPH, RN, CNS, FAAN, to serve in her new role as dean of the School of Nursing. Im is an internationally recognized nurse researcher with groundbreaking contributions in nursing science and oncology nursing.
“UT Austin was my home institution from 2002 to 2011, and I am thrilled to be back to further champion the mission and success of one of the top nursing schools in the nation,” Im said.
Im returned to the School of Nursing because of its well-known ongoing contributions to nursing education, practice, and research. She enters this role with many goals in mind. One goal at the top of her list is to increase the School’s funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Passionate about research, Im wants to see faculty achieve their research goals with the funds they need. The School’s rank among other top institutions for grant funding attracts outstanding students and contributes significantly to the School’s prestige.
School of Nursing’s Eun-Ok Im and John Lowe to serve on American Academy of Nursing Board of Directors
The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing’s Dean Eun-Ok Im, PhD, MPH, RN, CNS, FAAN, Professor and Laura Lee Blanton Chair in Nursing; and John Lowe, PhD, RN, FAAN, Joseph H. Blades Centennial Memorial Professor in Nursing, were recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Nursing (AAN).
STINT Fellow Malin Berghammer takes teaching sabbatical at UT Austin School of Nursing
Malin Berghammer, PhD, MSN, RN, a visiting scholar from Sweden, is teaching at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing during Fall 2023. This semester, Berghammer is assisting in the following courses: Introduction to Patient-Centered Care, Interprofessional Collaborative Practice, Foundations of Nurse Educators and Pediatric Primary Health Care Concepts.
UT Austin School of Nursing hosts exchange students from Kenya
The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing welcomed, for the first time, two exchange students from Moi University in Kenya. Mercy Chepkemoi and Wilson Kimutai, fourth-year students at Moi University School of Nursing & Midwifery, are visiting the UT Austin School of Nursing for six weeks.
More than a Scholarship: Nursing students look forward to professional and personal development
To help nursing students receive the support and education they need to improve health care, Mickey and Jeanne Klein established the Jeanne L. and Michael L. Klein Forty Acres Scholarship for students in the School of Nursing. Ella Folh and Benjamin Howell are this year’s recipients.
