About the Program
The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing faculty lead this five-week program in Heredia, Costa Rica during the Summer II semester (mid-July to mid-August).
Engaging Global Health in Costa Rica provides an immersion experience for students to explore socio-cultural issues, health care systems, health determinants, and health outcomes in Costa Rica while practicing Spanish language skills. This program is designed for students from disciplines that have an interest in global health and/or Latin America. Students will participate in excursions to unique health and community-based organizations, with further opportunities to enjoy Costa Rica's culture.

News Article: Costa Rica’s Model of Health and Culture
Throughout my time in Costa Rica, I’ve discovered the beauty in the small things. From the kindness of a family to the warmth of sharing our culture, it has been an experience like no other. Additionally, learning about the healthcare system in Costa Rica has allowed me to understand health and well-being from a different perspective.
