The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing Community Climate and Care Committee is honored to recognize Pride Month. During the month of June, across the globe, Pride Month is celebrated in tribute to those involved in the Stonewall Riots. With parades, festivals and concerts taking place across the globe, there is an opportunity for you to get involved, learn social history and raise political awareness of current issues facing the LGBTQ community.

Join the UT Austin School of Nursing in celebrating the life, legacy and service of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King’s unparalleled contributions to racial justice for Black Americans have been revolutionary. His values and historical place in American history educate us, and coming generations, on the importance of acceptance. On this day of service, we encourage you to strengthen your communities, bridge barriers, create solutions to social problems, and move us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a “Beloved Community.”

Started in the spring of 2018, our faculty & staff book club created a space for faculty and staff to learn/unlearn concepts and processes related to race and racism. It also provided time and space to collectively reflect on our experiences and uncover and challenge assumptions that influence our ways of thinking and acting in our professional roles as members of the UT Austin School of Nursing and broader community.
