Biography
Dr. Amanda Boardman is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Assistant Faculty member. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from UT Austin in 2026, following a Master of Science in Nursing as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 2024 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2007, also from UT Austin.
Dr. Boardman brings more than a decade of experience in pediatric and adolescent health to her teaching. She currently practices as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner here is Austin, where she provides comprehensive primary care to patients from birth through age 18, with a focus on asthma and allergy management and a strong commitment to inclusive, patient-centered care for LGBTQ youth.
Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner she served for a decade as the Director of Health and Wellness at St. Andrew's Episcopal School, where she led a 12-person health and wellness team and built K-12 health curricula serving nearly 1,000 students, reflects a career-long emphasis on evidence-based program design and staff development. Additionally, during the Covid-19 pandemic she led statewide efforts on getting students back to school in a safe manner, and served as a consultant to many schools without any nurses on keeping children safe in school during Covid. During the pandemic her love for public health grew as she created weekly newsletters for private and independent schools on the changing landscape of healthcare and school during this time.
As a Simulation Assistant and Teaching Assistant in UT Austin's nursing programs, Dr. Boardman has mentored PNP and undergraduate nursing students through clinical simulation, capstone evaluation, and leadership coursework. Her scholarship includes national presentations on gender-inclusive pediatric care and, most recently, work on VR simulation for pediatric mental health competency and oral challenge protocols for de-labeling penicillin allergies in primary care.
Dr. Boardman is a member of the American Nurses Association and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, and is currently serves as the Board President of the Greater Austin Chapter of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
