The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing’s Children’s Wellness Center (CWC) has been recognized with a Cornerstone Award from Whole Communities–Whole Health (WCWH), honoring the Center’s crucial role in supporting accessible, community-based research.
The Cornerstone Awards acknowledge organizations that provide essential logistical and infrastructural support to Whole Communities–Whole Health’s research efforts. The Children’s Wellness Center was recognized for hosting WCWH’s mobile hub and serving as a trusted recruitment partner, helping connect researchers with local families in ways that promote comfort, trust and accessibility.
“We’re honored to receive the Cornerstone Award for our contributions to the Whole Communities-Whole Health project from UT Austin,” said Ana Loera, BSN, primary care nurse supervisor at the CWC. “This recognition highlights the dedication and impact the CWC strives to make every day; keeping the voices and needs of our community at the heart of all we do. This award isn’t just for us, it’s for the community we proudly serve.”
Located in the Del Valle community, the CWC is a nurse-led pediatric clinic operated by the School of Nursing. The Center provides primary care to underserved children while also serving as a hands-on training site for nursing students focused on community health. This award highlights the Center’s ongoing commitment not only to care but to research that makes a real difference in the lives of Texas families.
