The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing’s Children’s Wellness Center (CWC) recently received a Certificate of Recognition from Austin Public Health’s Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program, acknowledging the Clinic’s outstanding commitment to community health.
Over the past four years, the CWC has administered over 57,000 vaccine doses to eligible children through the VFC program. These vaccines were provided at no cost to families, thanks to the federally funded initiative designed to increase access to life-saving immunizations for underserved populations.
The CWC has been a certified VFC provider since April 1, 1996, nearly coinciding with the Clinic’s opening. Since then, it has remained steadfast in its mission to improve children’s health outcomes in Travis County by offering preventive care to families in need.
The VFC Program, administered locally by Austin Public Health, supplies free vaccines to participating clinics, schools, and doctors’ offices throughout the area.
By ensuring access to routine immunizations, CWC continues to play a critical role in protecting the health of the community’s youngest members.
