Mary Winter, MSN, RN, a member of the Program Evaluation Team for The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing, received the SON Star Award for Texas Nursing staff in August 2024.
This award is granted to a UT Austin School of Nursing staff member who demonstrates a commitment to the goals and values of the University and the School.
She was recognized for her organizational skills, meticulous commitment to accuracy, communication abilities and cheerful outlook. Winter mentors students and new staff on research teams, and is willing to learn new procedures to increase her capabilities. Researchers at the School of Nursing could not do what they do without the outstanding help of colleagues such as her.
Winter has been employed at the School of Nursing for 26 years in a variety of positions, including research associate, data manager and project manager.
As part of the Program Evaluation Team, an ongoing process to revise and improve our curriculum, Winter is responsible for editing and creating surveys under the direction of Heather Becker, PhD, research scientist. She also analyzes the resulting data and prepares final reports.
