Seulgi Ryu, MSN, RN, a PhD student at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing, presented research on behalf of Dean Eun-Ok Im’s research team at the 30th Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics Asia Pacific Conference in Seoul, South Korea, in April 2025. Dean Eun-Ok Im, PhD, MPH, RN, CNS, FAAN, Laura Lee Blanton Chair in Nursing, leads the team whose work was showcased. The conference is an international gathering of experts focused on advances in cardiovascular medicine, innovation and health promotion.

Representing the Web-App Based Lifestyle Physical Activity Promotion Program Research Team led by Dean Im and Dr. Wonshik Chee, Ryu delivered three presentations highlighting the team’s ongoing work:

  • Lessons Learned from Development of Technology-Based Behavioral Intervention Program for Multi-Ethnic Groups
  • Practical Issues in Implementing a Web App Based Physical Activity Promotion Program Among Korean American Women with Depressive Symptoms
  • Lessons Learned from Technology-Based Physical Activity Promotion Programs for Asian American Midlife Women

The presentations focused on the development, implementation, and real-world challenges of culturally tailored, technology-based interventions aimed at promoting physical activity, especially among multi-ethnic and underserved populations. By sharing insights and lessons learned, Ryu helped showcase how Dean Im’s team is advancing public health initiatives and working to reduce disparities in cardiovascular care.
