Student Travel Fund for Conferences/Conventions/Summits (STFC)

Description: The School of Nursing’s Student Travel Fund for Conferences/Conventions/Summits (STFC) exists to provide Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students with financial support for travel expenses relating to academic or professional conferences, conventions, or summits where the student is the primary investigator or presenter for research and will be representing the SON in an official capacity.

Eligibility

  • Students must be registered full time during the semester the funds are to be used.
  • Option III students are not eligible.
  • Registration for the prior spring semester will fulfill this requirement for the summer semester. Please note that the STFC can only be applied to those who are officially enrolled as a student at the time of reimbursement.
  • If students are traveling to a conference, convention, or summit during the summer, they must be able to provide proof of enrollment for the following fall semester.

Coverage: Award may cover the following conference-, convention-, or summit-related expenses:

  • Registration Fee
  • Travel
  • Food
  • Lodging

Restrictions: Award amount will vary depending on the cost of registration, travel, and per diem for lodging and meals and on the availability of funds. Please note that the STFC can only be applied to those who are officially enrolled as a student at the time of reimbursement and that only funds for conference, convention, or summit registration may be provided in advance and are not able to be retroactively reimbursed.

Processing

  1. Submit the Online STFC application
  2. Once the Office of Student Services confirms the completeness and accuracy of your application, it will be forwarded to the Scholarship Committee for review. During the review process, preference is shown for:
    1. students with financial need and those who do not have alternative sources of funding.
    2. students without prior award in the academic year.
  3. The Office of Student Services will notify you on the Scholarship Committee’s decision.
