The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing proudly celebrates the inclusion of Kavita Radhakrishnan, PhD, MSEE, RN, FAAN, FAHA, associate dean of research, into the Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame.
This prestigious honor recognizes nurse researchers who have made substantial and sustained contributions to the field, shaping the future of nursing and health care on a global scale.
“Being inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Society’s International Nursing Research Hall of Fame is an incredible honor and a deeply meaningful milestone in my career,” Radhakrishnan said. “This recognition is not just a validation of my years of dedication, curiosity and perseverance in advancing nursing science, but more importantly, it acknowledges the collective efforts of my research team. I am deeply grateful to my research colleagues and students from nursing and other disciplines who have contributed to our work and share a commitment to the ethical use of technology in addressing deep-rooted disparities in health access and outcomes.”
Radhakrishnan’s groundbreaking research focuses on leveraging emerging technologies—such as telemonitoring, connected sensors, and digital gaming—to enhance chronic disease self-management and promote aging in place.
As principal investigator on multiple National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded randomized controlled trials, her work has significantly advanced innovative, scalable health interventions that improve cardiovascular disease management. To date, she has secured over $6.8 million in research funding from the NIH.
In addition to her research, Radhakrishnan is a dedicated educator and mentor. She has taught health information systems, nursing research and precision health science across undergraduate and graduate programs, fostering the next generation of nursing leaders. Her commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and mentorship has made a lasting impact on students and colleagues alike.
“This recognition is also an opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to my mentors, mentees, colleagues and staff, whose invaluable support has made my research journey possible,” she concluded. “Above all, receiving this recognition serves as a reminder to approach nursing research with both innovation and humility, striving for excellence that leads to a lasting impact on individuals, communities and the future of health care worldwide.”
The induction ceremony will take place in Seattle on July 19, 2025, during Sigma’s International Research Congress.
