Sharing Expertise on Evidence-Based Practice and Nursing Leadership in Taiwan

Faculty from The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing Academic are training academic nursing schools around the globe, with support from the School’s Center for Global Nursing and Health. 

In May 2025, Linda Yoder, PhD, MBA, RN, AOCN, FAAN, FAMSN, professor emerita, and Li-Chen Lin, PhD, RN, CNRN, clinical assistant professor, visited academic nursing institutions in Taiwan to strengthen international educational partnerships and share their expertise in evidence-based practice and nursing leadership. 

At Tzu Chi University, Yoder presented on key topics in nursing leadership and shared challenges and opportunities in the profession. 

At Chang Gung University, Yoder presented a lecture on the topic of career development relationships. The visit included a meeting with the university president and provided valuable opportunities for scholarly exchange. 

At Taipei Medical University, Yoder shared insights into implementing evidence-based practice and performance improvement in hospital environments. 

The UT Austin School of Nursing and Taipei Medical University have a Memorandum of Understanding that supports faculty and student exchanges, joint research and other academic collaborations. This partnership reflects the commitment of both institutions to advancing nursing education and practice on a global scale. 

Yoder also spoke with nurse leaders and faculty at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital about the implementation of evidence-based practice and performance improvement in hospital environments, emphasizing the importance of continuous quality improvement in health care settings. 

The final stop was at Chang Gung University of Science and Technology, where Yoder presented on writing for publication, offering practical strategies for nurse scholars aiming to contribute to the scientific literature. 

"This visit was important to UT and the School of Nursing to demonstrate our commitment to strengthening UT Nursing’s leadership in global nursing," Lin said. "Our interactions created positive energy between UT Austin School of Nursing and our partner schools for future collaborations in research, publication, teaching and beyond."
