American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider (CPR)

American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver First-Aid and AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider is an instructor-led and video-based course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a life-threatening emergency. Skills covered in this course include BLS CPR and the use of an AED for adult, child and infant; choking relief in adults and infants; and to promptly recognize a First Aid emergency. The course teaches In Facility Provider (IFP) skills and allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students’ learning throughout the course.

The School of Nursing Disaster Preparedness Committee and The University of Texas at Austin Medical Reserve Corps will host the Fall 2024 Disaster Preparedness Day. All students, staff, and faculty are welcome to attend the event to learn about how to prepare for various emergency scenarios.

American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver First-Aid is a video based and instructor-led course that teaches nursing students critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency until emergency medical services arrive. Skills covered in this course include first aid skills, infection control, assessing emergencies, using epinephrine pens and inhalers.
