Web-App Based Lifestyle Physical Activity Promotion Program in Improving Depressive Symptom Experience

Participation Eligibility

Participants must meet all of the following eligibility requirements:

  • Are between 40 and 65 years old.
  • Are of Korean descent through my parents or grandparents.
  • Can read and write English or Korean.
  • Do not have any disabilities that prevent physical activity.
  • Have access to the Internet and use e-mail.
  • Have had depressive symptoms in the past two weeks.

Study Procedures

If you are eligible and choose to join the study, you will participate in the study for 12 months. After registration, a computer program will randomly assign you to one of two groups, and researchers will ask you to do the following based on your assigned group.

  • If assigned to the group who IS asked to use the WPAPP-K program (Group 1):
    1. You will be asked to fill out the questionnaire at 3 times, and about 30 minutes are usually needed to complete the Internet survey questionnaire at each time.
    2. You will be asked to use the WPAPP-K program and the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) website for 12 months.
  • If you are assigned to the group who is NOT asked to use the program (Group 2):
    1. You will be asked to fill out the questionnaire at 3 times, and 30 minutes are usually needed to complete the Internet survey questionnaire at each time.
    2. You will be asked to use the CDC website for 12 months. Taking part in this research study is voluntary. You do not have to participate, and you can stop at any time.
