Assessing Cognitive Outcomes in People Living With Metastatic Breast Cancer

""

Study Overview and Eligibility Criteria

If you have been diagnosed and treated for metastatic breast cancer (also called stage IV or advanced cancer), are at least 21 years old, live in the United States, and have a smartphone, you may be eligible to participate in our study!

We hope to learn more about the impact of cognition changes on everyday life during metastatic breast cancer treatment. We aim to study cognitive functioning “in the wild” (i.e., in the context of everyday life), where it matters most.

Participants will be asked to complete two virtual study visits and 28 mini assessments on their smartphones between virtual study visits:

  • The two virtual visits can be suited to fit the participant’s schedule. Each virtual visit will take 45-60 minutes and include cognitive tasks and surveys on the participant’s computer/tablet. Surveys will include questions about personal and health history in addition to rating of everyday functioning, quality of life, psychological functioning, cognitive functioning, and fatigue. Participants will also be asked about their satisfaction with the study at the end.
  • The mini assessments will occur 1X/day 28 times between the two virtual visits. Participants will complete surveys that include a series of questions related to their symptoms (for example, “how happy do you feel right now?” or “how bad are your cognitive symptoms right now?”) and four cognitive brain games each day on their smartphone. These will take approximately 10 min/day to complete.

Study Appreciation: Participants will receive up to $78 for your participation in this study.
