Study Overview and Eligibility Criteria
If you have been diagnosed and treated for metastatic breast cancer (also called stage IV or advanced cancer), are at least 21 years old, live in the United States, use a smartphone, and have access to a computer with the internet, you and your partner may be eligible to participate in our study! We are enrolling both individuals with metastatic breast cancer and their partners in this study.
The purpose of the study is to understand how individuals living with metastatic breast cancer, along with their partners, deal with cognitive symptoms in their everyday life.
The study will require both you and your partner to complete a phone call with our study team to enroll and then complete an online survey. This survey will include questions about personal and health history in addition to questions about your levels of functioning and quality of life. You will also be asked to complete a short cognitive test battery on your computer (partners will not do cognitive testing).
After online surveys and testing are complete, you and your partner will be asked to complete short diary assessments on your smartphone 21 times over the course of 3 months. These will occur 7 days in a row each month for 3 months total. These diary assessments will be texted to you in the evenings and include a series of questions related to cognitive difficulties, levels of functioning, and provided support and will take approximately 10 min/evening to complete.
Study Appreciation: Participants will receive up to $144 gift card for your participation in this study and your partner will receive up to $114 gift card for their participation.
