Recipient of The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing’s 2023 Distinguished Alumni Award

Hsiu-Min Tsai is a visionary leader in nursing education, health literacy, and evidence-based practice. As Distinguished Professor & Dean of the College of Nursing at Hungkuang University, she has significantly shaped nursing education, policy and research in Taiwan and beyond. 

Tsai's expertise in health literacy, cross-cultural healthcare and evidence-based nursing has made her a sought-after researcher and academic leader. She has served as principal investigator on 25 research projects, securing funding from esteemed institutions such as the National Science and Technology Council, Ministry of Science and Technology and Academia Sinica. Her work has influenced nursing education policies and professional standards, contributing to national nursing examination reforms in Taiwan. 

A recognized scholar on the international stage, Tsai has presented at over 100 national and international conferences, sharing her research on improving healthcare outcomes through education and literacy. She is a board director and chairperson of the Council of Community Health Nursing, Taiwan Nurses Association, and serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for Advances in Nursing Science, U.S. 

Tsai earned her PhD in Community Health Nursing from The University of Texas at Austin in 2005, equipping her with the foundation to drive impactful change in health care education and policy. Her dedication to mentoring the next generation of nurses, coupled with her commitment to international collaboration, ensures that her legacy will continue to shape the nursing profession for years to come.

Through her research, leadership, and commitment to advancing health care, Tsai remains an influential force in global nursing education and health literacy.
