Stephanie Morgan, PhD, RN, FNP-BC, FNAP
Recipient of The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing’s 2021 Distinguished Alumni Award

Stephanie Morgan is a clinical professor for The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing, the director of practice innovation and the director of the UT Austin School of Nursing’s wellness clinics.

Morgan received her BSN from the University of Southern Mississippi, her MSN from the University of New Mexico and her PhD in nursing from UT Austin. She is a nurse entrepreneur with a 25-year career in the post-acute care industry, during which time she held senior executive positions and was responsible for the clinical operations of several large organizations. She has experience in redesigning post-acute care companies and was a co-founder of the first short-stay skilled facility in Texas designed to deliver person-centered care in a non-institutionalized setting.

She joined the School of Nursing in 2016. During the pandemic, she was a critical member of the University’s Health and Wellness task force and the co-lead of the COVID-19 vaccine operations for the university. Throughout the pandemic, Morgan worked to bring vaccines to marginalized communities through trusted relationships. Morgan co-created and led the University’s two vaccine outreach programs, Vaccine No Waste (VaxNoW) and Vaccine Administration Mobile Operations (VAMOS), to reach individuals who lacked access to the original vaccine HUBs in the Austin area. VAMOS continues to operate to this day, extending deep into communities to improve vaccine access in addition to providing access to social resources in underserved communities.
