Recipient of The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing’s 2024 Rising Star Alumni Award
Janiece L. Taylor is an esteemed Assistant Professor on the research/education tract at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Her groundbreaking research is dedicated to identifying and addressing disparities in pain experienced by older women from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups. Additionally, Taylor focuses on enhancing the quality of life and health outcomes for individuals aging with disabilities. Her work is deeply informed by a decade of clinical experience in long-term care and women’s health settings.
Taylor earned her PhD in nursing from the UT Austin School of Nursing, which laid the foundation for her distinguished career. She further honed her expertise through an Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biobehavioral Pain Research at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Her innovative research and dedication were recognized when she was selected as the first nurse in the prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Harold Amos Fellowship Program.
In addition to her research achievements, Taylor was honored as the inaugural Katey Ayers and Humberto Ortega Rising Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. She also serves as the Deputy Director of the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing RESILIENCE Center and is a principal faculty member in the Center for Equity in Aging. Her remarkable contributions to the field have been supported by notable organizations, including the John A. Hartford Foundation, the National Institute of Nursing Research, the Mayday Foundation, and the Robert Wood Johnson Harold Amos Medical Faculty Program.
