Recipient of The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing’s 2021 Rising Star Alumni Award
Kate Galloway Parmer graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing in 2016. She began her career in pediatric and intensive care settings, eventually serving as a charge nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at St. David’s HealthCare in Austin.
Witnessing firsthand the challenges between staffing and budgeting, Kate pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) to bridge the gap between clinical care and business strategy. Staying true to her Longhorn roots, she attended the McCombs School of Business, earning her MBA with Dean’s List honors in 2020.
Now, as a home program manager at DaVita, Kate leads 16 clinics across multiple regions, overseeing 450 patients and more than 30 employees. She collaborates with physicians and hospital executives to shape the strategic direction of dialysis care in Houston, ensuring patients receive safe, home-based dialysis treatments.
DaVita, a Fortune 200 company, is one of the nation's largest dialysis providers. Kate remains deeply committed to advancing patient care, holding memberships in Sigma Theta Tau (Epsilon Theta Chapter), the American Nurses Association, and the Nephrology Nurses Association.
Through her leadership and advocacy, Kate embodies the Longhorn spirit—because what starts here changes the world.
